Art...
I've taken art classes here and there throughout my life but never really connected to art until I taught it to myself. I mean, I could doodle insanely all over my notes and tests and frustrate my teachers to the moon, but I never got into portraits until I taught myself. And from there, my art style was born :) I started doing projects for my youth group in Colorado (created gifts of portrait collages to give to people going away) -- pictured below.
When I started drawing while having conversation with God, that's when it all really took off. Wow - has God opened my eyes to what to draw :) I don't believe God has given me this gift, more that I taught myself a new hobby and God is using it for benefit of myself and others.
---Please see the drop-down sites off of the tab "art" for God-filled creations and notes I took during Chi Alpha meetings.

My "Style"
- I don't like shadows... just... bare minimal.
- It bugs me if the nose is in the wrong place... Don't get me wrong, love Picasso's work - but not for me.
- I don't take criticism well... I draw because I love to. I'm not going to make a career out of it. Sure, I'll listen to you, and I love your ideas, but don't tell me how to draw.
- Currently, It's all pen... barely any pencil. If I mess up, I'll rip it up and start over... Yes I recycle.
- If I know you, and I've taken pictures of you, I'm drawing from memory... If I don't know you that well, it's pictures... and if I've never met you, or heard of you, or have no idea why I'm drawing you, it's because God told me to, and showed me it all in a dream.
- I'm really bad at drawing what's in front of me if its living... I'd love being a caricature artist if I could do that.
A few examples of portraits I've done...
A few high school art projects...
Project Vayre - penciled portraitsMy good friends Brent & Carly Vayre were involved with our youth group, JOLT and I thought it was appropriate to draw them a collage of all of us -as JOLT stands for Joining Our Lives Together- as a house-warming gift when they moved. It was only a few months after I started drawing realistic portraits, so it wasn't the best it could be, but it did work out :)

Project El DiabloYou're right, "El Diablo" means "The Demon" in Spanish - but it also is the name of my high school newspaper which I worked on for a good chunk of my high school career. Our senior year was dominated by senior editors, so on our last issue, we all contributed in our own way - mine, creating caricatures of the senior editors :)
